Clear Title celebrates 5-year anniversary, partners with United Way

When Clear Title Agency of Arizona decided to celebrate its five-year anniversary, the company founders turned to Valley of the SunUnited Way as a partner. Since its inception, the company had integrated non-profit involvement and donations into its annual activities. CEO Bart Patterson felt it was critical to give back to the community that had been so instrumental in the company’s 200 percent annual growth, even during recession years.

Patterson and his team routinely organized opportunities for the employees to give back in various ways. For example, they spent a day at St. Mary’s Food Bank helping to organize and distribute food items.

When it came time to plan the five-year anniversary party, Patterson was inspired by the Valley of the Sun United Way’s WeekEND Hunger Backpack Program. The program provides backpacks stuffed with enough food to sustain underserved local kids through the weekend. The Clear Title staff purchased and stuffed 50 backpacks with weekend food for the kids and presented them to Gail Baer of the United Way at the anniversary party.

Clear Title Founders Jim Clifford, Nick Velimirovich and Patterson also presented Baer with a $5,000 check – $1,000 for each year they had been in business.

The party attracted nearly 300 guests who came in support of the United Way and Clear Title’s five-year anniversary.

In terms of surviving (and prospering) during the difficult recession years, Patterson had this to say, “The secret to our success has been hiring the best and brightest escrow agents in town and turning lemons into lemonade during the recession. Our people built a great name and reputation for themselves during that time which continues to serve us well as the Arizona real estate market comes back.”

During the recession, Clear Title found creative ways to generate revenues via bank-owned real estate transactions and foreclosures (the REO market) by handling title and escrow duties for banks during the downturn. In the process, they experienced 200 percent compounded annual growth, opened six offices and hired 50 people, becoming the fastest-growing title company in Arizona.

The company’s services range from residential and commercial title and escrow services and real estate owned (REO) services, to trustee sale guarantees (TSG), default services and short sale escrow services

“The people at Clear Title are an exceptional group who not only survived the recession but prospered, due to their professionalism, standards of quality, business acumen and positive attitude,” Clifford said.

“It is through their efforts and successes, that we are where we are today,” Velimirovich said.
